This building was built before 1894, and was originally the residence of D. Carolina Cunha. Sir Robert Ho Tung, a Hong Kong businessman, purchased the building in 1918, occupying it as his retirement. When he died in 1955, and according to his will, the building was offered to the Macao Government for conversion into a public library.
Now the Ho Tung Library is still open to the public. There are various types of books for the public to read, and there are facilities such as rest areas, restrooms and teahouses. After entering, it is a small garden. In the middle of the building is the entrance. After entering, it feels like the front porch of a typical Portuguese home. The space is not big, and then it is going to the garden. The library is on the upper floor, which is modern architecture and traditional architecture. Matching together looks quite chic.
New and traditional buildings
Library is on the upper floor, don't worry, the elevator is next to it.
