Every church in Macau has its own history. The St. Anthony's Church introduced this time has had a fire that later became a memorial day.

St. Anthony's Church, also known as the Church of Flowers, because many inhabitants of Portuguese and Macanese celebrate their marriage in this Church. As people often see the church full of decorations, bells, flowers, couples, and participants with bunches of flowers in hand, they often give this church the Chinese name of "Fa Vong Tong(花王堂)" (Fa=花=Flowers; Vong=王=King; Tong=堂=Church).

The Church of St. Anthony, built between 1558 and 1560, was originally a small church. After more than 200 years, it was intermittently damaged and then repaired intermittently. On September 22, 1874, Macau encountered a strong typhoon. At that time, the "St. Anthony's Church" was hit by lightning and caused a fire. The fire illuminates the night sky. At that time, the area under the hills was a river, residents on the shore are at risk under strong winds and waves, but the fire on the hills makes the residents find their way in the dark and go to the high places and safe places.

After the disaster, the believers prayed for the victims of the hurricane. The Church of St. Anthony was rebuilt after the fire, and a prayer meeting was held on the same day of the following each year.
