Admission: Adults - MOP15; student card holders - MOP8; Macao ID cardholders, children of 12 years old or under, seniors of 65 years old or above and schools and non-profit associations (application submitted 7 working days in advance): Free. Free entry to the public on Tuesdays and the 15th of each month.

The Macau Museum is a history and culture museum with many exhibits of historical value. It documents the lifestyle and culture of different peoples living in the city for centuries.
On the first floor is a small exhibition on the evolution of Western and Chinese civilization before the Portuguese landed in the Pearl River Delta in the 16th century. In addition, the museum shows the history of Macau and gives an insight into the trade, religion and culture of the two ways of life. On the second floor, visitors will get to know the folk art and tradition of Macau: people's everyday lives, religious ceremonies and traditional festivals. On the third floor, the exhibition illuminates today's Macau with its characteristic facets of city life. The depiction of Macau in literature and art plays a special role.
The Macau Museum is located in Monte Fortress,, built by the Jesuits in the early 17th century. For a long time the fortress was the most important building to defend the city. In 1965, a weather service was housed in the fortress and made accessible to the public. The Monte Fortress, on the highest peak in Macau impresses with a panoramic view of the city with the Ruins of St. Paul's to the west. On 15 July 2005, UNESCO officially incorporated the historic center of Macau as a World Heritage Site - with the Monte Fortress, and the Ruins of St. Paul's as important historical monuments in the city center.
The Macau Museum opened on April 18, 1998. The characteristic architecture of the two underground floors and the third above the highest level of the fortress, where the weather service is housed, has been retained.
